What began in 2007 as a one-off concert at a blues festival at the foot of a glacier has evolved into the most esteemed jazz band in Iceland today. Describing ADHD's music is an impossible task – it simply needs to be experienced live, as they blend influences of jazz, rock, post-rock, and Nordic folklore in a completely unique way. While traces of Miles Davis's electric period may be recognizable at first listen, influences of Radiohead, Pink Floyd, or Steely Dan also abound. Their combination of melancholic jazz and sudden rock twists inevitably evokes the desolate Icelandic landscape and volcanic eruptions. Their debut album saw remarkable success (winning Iceland's Album of the Year Award, Song of the Year Award, and Performance of the Year Award), and with each subsequent release (now their eighth), their loyal fan base has expanded worldwide.
ADHD weaves optimistic melodies, delicately incorporating electronic effects and allowing the concert hall to be filled with the sounds of roaring Hammond organs, punctuated by occasional drum stampedes and electric basslines. Each of their performances is a unique soundscape, and from the first note, it's evident to everyone that their music originated in secluded isolation and is the result of an extraordinary love for music, musical performance, and mutual friendship. ADHD transports their audience into a magical, psychoacoustic universe with a therapeutic effect – entirely without any esoteric undertones. Highly recommended!
