Lucia Cadotsch is without a doubt one of the most important female vocalists on the European, perhaps even world jazz stages.

The singer, born in Zurich and living in Berlin, received the prestigious "Swiss music prize" last year, the "German Jazz Award" in 2021, the "ECHO Jazz Award" for female singer of the year in 2017 and the "New German Jazz Award" in 2012 for her  group "Schneeweiss + Rosenrot."

During twenty years of work and ten albums, Lucia Cadotsch managed to expand the circle of fans well beyond the usual boundaries of jazz. The downright genius de/re-construction of jazz standards in the trio "Speak Low" brought her ecstatic responses from music critics around the world (five stars in magazines Downbeat, All About Jazz, The Guardian, etc.), the delicate indie-jazz-pop of her band "Liun & The Science Fiction Band" clearly shows the direction in which modern music will turn in the future.

Each group she works with manages to leave a distinct author's mark, so her music always sounds fresh, new and distinctly personal. This is also true for her latest project "Aki", in which she mixes art-pop, jazz and alternative lounge music in a superlative line-up of a seemingly classical jazz quartet. The band's studio album also features guitar virtuoso Kurt Rosenwinckel, who also released the album on his label Heartcore records. Simply put: Lucia Cadotsch is brilliant and a name for the next few decades - whether you're into jazz or not.

"Lucia Cadotsch's singing parallels that of mature Nina Simone - not in the sense that they sound alike, but that they both offer an honest face-to-face conversation. Their intelligent, disciplined approach serves the song rather than pandering to the audience. Both avoid boastful virtuosity and vocal embellishment and exaggeration, which soon becomes tiresome. Instead, their careful readings stand up to multiple listens and reveal new depths to the song.”
